Looking down on a gum canopy with a climber in orange working among the branches

Removals, pruning, palms, and the mess after.

Everything Luke does around Dubbo is done off a rope – whole trees, single limbs, palms and the mess that comes with them.

What Luke gets called for.

Most requestedA climber on a rope beside a freshly cut trunk with a chainsaw
01

Tree Removal

The whole tree, taken apart from the top down. Ropes go in first, the canopy comes off in manageable pieces, and the trunk is dropped in sections into a cleared space instead of being felled across your yard.

  • Gums, pines, box and shade trees
  • Trees over a roof, fence, pool or shed
  • Dead and dangerous trees
  • Timber cut up and the site cleared

02

Pruning & Deadwooding

Not a haircut with a pole saw from the ground. Luke gets up into the canopy, takes the dead and hanging wood out, lifts the crown off the roof and leaves the tree balanced enough that it is not back in the same state next summer.

  • Deadwood and hangers removed
  • Crown lifting and canopy thinning
  • Branches cut back off roofs and gutters
  • Clearance from powerlines and driveways

03

Palm Cleaning & Removal

Palms turn into a fire and vermin problem once the dead skirt builds up, and the seed heads drop everywhere. They get climbed, stripped back to clean trunk, or taken out entirely a section at a time.

  • Dead fronds and skirts stripped
  • Seed heads removed before they drop
  • Full palm removals
  • Cocos, bangalow and fan palms

04

Storm-Damaged & Overhanging Limbs

The limb that is already cracked, or the one sitting directly over the bedroom. One customer called Luke about a tree overhanging the house before it did any damage – that is the right time to make the call.

  • Hung-up and split limbs
  • Branches over the house or driveway
  • After-storm make-safe work
  • Single problem limbs, not just whole trees

05

Climbing & Rigging in Tight Spots

Narrow side access, a courtyard, a tree boxed in by a shed and a colorbond fence. Everything walks in on Luke's back and the tree comes out on ropes, so no machine has to cross your lawn.

  • Backyards with no vehicle access
  • Rigging over fences, sheds and pools
  • No heavy machinery on your lawn
  • Drop zones cleared and controlled

06

Clean-Up & Green Waste

The part people remember. Timber cut to a size you can move or use, chips and leaf litter raked out, and the green waste taken away, so the finish looks like nothing happened except the tree going.

  • Timber cut and stacked
  • Debris raked out of beds and lawn
  • Green waste taken away
  • Site left tidy every time

Not sure what the tree needs? Send a photo.

Half the trees people want removed only need the dead wood out and a limb off the roof. Luke will tell you which one yours is, and quote it either way.

Luke at The Backyard Retreat has just done a great job on some palm trees and gum trees that were really starting to cause us some problems. We know how passionate he is about lawn & garden care so we knew he'd be the right guy to call about these problem trees. Thanks Luke - great job as always :)
